Festive flowers, fun food: Share your favorite holiday cookie recipe!

Oscar Wilde once said, "The only way to get rid of temptation is to yield to it."

That's good advice as we get into the swing of the holiday season. Let's just enjoy little treats like egg nog and gingerbread, and not feel guilty. If you do go a little overboard, just add an extra mile to your run or cut back the next day.

After all, when it comes to reconnecting with family and friends, there's no better way to do it than with traditional homemade treats! Who doesn't love a fresh chocolate chip cookie, gingerbread man, lemon bar, seven-layer bar or sugar cookie? Mmmm.

Teleflora's Mixing Bowl Bouquet Flowers

To aid your cookie creation, Teleflora has designed the perfect kitchen helper: the Mixing Bowl Bouquet. First, you can enjoy the flowers; then the container becomes a fun and festive mixing bowl.

And Teleflora has a fantastic promotion! In our Bake a Batch sweepstakes, customers who buy designated Christmas flowers online at www.teleflora.com through January 8, 2010 will be entered into the contest and be eligible for the grand-prize drawing of a kitchen makeover worth approximately $25,000.

Recipients of these bouquets will receive a game piece with an entry code. By using the code to register on www.teleflorasweepstakes.com, recipients will become eligible for the grand prize.

And on Flower Blog, we're launching a Holiday Cookie Recipe Exchange. I've asked TF employees to search through their files and cookbooks, and come up with their favorite offering. I'll be posting one soon, though I'm going to cheat a bit and give a brownie recipe. :) These brownies always get rave reviews and they are reportedly a family recipe from the great Katharine Hepburn. I like to imagine her whipping up a batch for Spence and their friends as he entertained with tall tales and spicy anecdotes.

Who doesn't love cookies?! A couple of the favorites at our shop is a secret recipe of Saffron Pistachio Chocolate Chip and of course Peppermint Chocolate Chip.
